Cooper Blake has everything going for him—until he wakes from a car accident with his football career in ruins and a mysterious, attractive girl by his side. Cooper doesn’t know how Samantha got there or why he can see her; all he knows is that she’s a ghost, and the shadows that surround her seem intent on destroying her.
No one from Cooper’s old life would understand what he can barely grasp himself. . . . But Delilah, the captain of the cheerleading squad, has secrets of her own, like her ability to see beyond the physical world, and her tangled history with Brent, a loner from a neighboring school who can hear strangers’ most intimate thoughts. Delilah and Brent know that Cooper is in more trouble than he realizes, and that Samantha may not be as innocent as she has led Cooper to believe. But the only way to figure out where Samantha came from will put them all in more danger than they ever dreamed possible.
Again, I want to start with the negative so we can end with all the great stuff!
With the way she begins, I felt like I missed way too much. But throughout the story she gives a lot of information through flashbacks and in the dialogue so you don’t really end up missing anything. I know a lot of books start that way, but for some reason I don’t feel like it was necessary here. To me, the story alone makes this a 5 star book…the reason I gave it only 4 is because the ending felt a little rushed. Almost like she wasn’t sure how to end it. There was also an event that happens leading up to the climax (I don’t want to give anything away!) that I wish I got to hear more about. Again I feel like she just wasn’t sure how exactly it happened so we only hear about snippets after the fact. The shadows…while they are present throughout the book, there is no resolution involving them. I hope there is a second book that delves more into them so I know what happened!
Now on to the Awesomeness! Continue reading →
